Tuesday, October 09, 2012Do y'all look at the the free pattern slips that are at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Jo Ann? I usually don't like the patterns that are on there, but this one caught my eye and it wasn't just cuz of the cute little girl in the pic haha.
It can be used for a decorative pillow, or a soft squishy ball. I like giving my kids unique toys and she loves it! Since the pattern is so basic, I teach in the video how to change yarn colors. Let me know if you decide to make one!
This video teaches you how to slip knot, cast on, knit, garter stitch, change colors, make stripes.
Materials Needed:
-1 skein Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn, Fisherman
-Size US 13 knitting needles
-Fiberfill Stuffing
Directions: Pouf is made from a Garter stitch (knit every row) rectangle. When done knitting, sew the first row (along the cast-on edge) eo the last row (bound-off edge) to fashion a tube.
POUF: CO 15
Work in Garter stitch (knit all stitches in every row) until piece measures 17" from beginning.
Row 1: 1st color
Rows 2-5: 2nd color
Rows 6-7: 1st color
Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING: Thread yarn tail into blunt needle; sew cast-on edge to bound-off edge to form tube.
Fasten off, but do not cut tail.
Weave yarn tail in & out through stitches along one edge of tube; draw stitches tightly together & knot to secure.
Stuff with fiberfill.
Weave needle in & out through stitches around remaining open edge of tube & draw up tightly.
Fasten off. Weave yarn ends to inside of Pouf.
Finished circumference 19"
Finished height 4"
