Snowy Cable Toque
Wednesday, March 28, 2012One of my viewers asked me if i could make a toque. I was like, "a chef's hat?!" haha. She sent me a pic of the hat she wanted to make, and I found a free pattern on lionbrand that looks a lot like it. I would definitely wear this on a "butt chappin' chilly" day! Here's the video tutorial!
Keeps you very warm, and there's two different ways you can wear it:
Christmas Tree look ;)
or the slouchy look
Thanks Lion Brand for the Free Pattern!
Materials Needed:
- 2 balls Hometown USA® Yarn: New York White
- Size 13 Double Pointed Needles OR use circular needles *MY FAVORITE!!!* Worth every penny, and you save $$$ because you can do everything with them!
- 1 Stitch Markers
- Tapestry needle
Skill Level: Easy+
Cast on 48 sts. Divide sts onto 4 needles (12 sts on each needle). Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Ribbing Rnd 1: *K1 through the back loop, p1; rep from * around. Rep Rnd 1 until piece measures about 4 in. (10 cm) from beg. Beg Pattern Increase Rnd: (K1, M1, k2, p5) 6 times - 54 sts at the end of this rnd. Next Rnd: (LT, k2, p2, MB, p2) 6 times. Next Rnd: (K4, p5) 6 times. Next Rnd: (K2, RT, p5) 6 times. Next Rnd: (K4, p5) 6 times. Rep last 4 rnds 4 more times. Shape Crown (top of Hat) Rnd 1: (K1, k2tog, k1, p2tog, p1, p2tog) 6 times - 36 sts at the end of this rnd. Rnd 2: (K1, k2tog, p1, p2tog) 6 times - 24 sts at the end of this rnd. Rnd 3: (K2tog, p2tog) 6 times - 12 sts. Rnd 4: (K2tog) 6 times - 6 sts. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot securely. FINISHING Weave in ends. Make a medium size pom-pom. Tie pom-pom to top of Hat. |
