HOW TO CROCHET A FUN BLANKET FAST!

Friday, December 12, 2025

Man does it feel good to have yarn between my fingers again! Seriously, it's been years since I picked up a hook or needle. I forgot how calming and relaxing it is. My life feels so busy, but I can take the time to implement this back in my life. It definitely make me feel better. I love coming up with patterns and giving them to friends. One of my good friends lost her darling toddler a couple of years ago from cancer. It was so hard to watch her and her family go through that. I know that God gives trials to those that He knows can handle it and my friend is the best in every way. So strong in her testimony of Jesus, such a good, kind, patient mom and is so selfless. She found out she was pregnant with a boy and we were all SO excited! Not that it replaces her daughter, but helps heal and knowing that he was with her before he came is just so special. I got her some gifts for her baby shower, but on the day of, I felt like I needed to make her a blanket. So I searched for a fun crochet stitch and grabbed the cutest boy color yarn in my stash and went to work! This can easily be made for bigger sizes. (see below for ch suggestions on different sizes) It's a multiple of 3+2 sts.

The stitch is a little hard to see with the variegated yarn, but it's such a pretty stitch that looks great with chunky yarn. Okay here is the pattern!

SKILL LEVEL - BEGINNER + MATERIALS - Size 6 super bulky yarn • BERNAT BABY BLANKET - Baby Blue/Green (1 skein) • SIZE N (9MM) HOOK Blanket Size 18x22" Note: I gifted the blanket before doing my swatch-I'm sorry! PATTERN Ch 50(48+2)* If you want to change the size, you need a multiple of 3 then add 2 Row 1: DC into 5th ch from hook, DC to end of row Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st st. (ch 2, sk3 sts, sc in the space between the sts) Repeat what's in parentheses to end of row. Row 3: Ch 3, (3dc in the ch2 space from the previous row) Repeat until last st. DC Repeat rows 2-3 until desired length!
I ran out of yarn because I already made another blanket with this same skein, so it could have been a lot bigger!
Regular baby blanket size: Ch 59. Crochet until length is 40"
Afghan size: Ch 122. Crochet until length is 65"
